What We Believe?

The following material is an extract from our church’s Statement of Faith.

  • The Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the infallible, inspired, and authoritative Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:20,21)

  • The Godhead

We believe God is one, yet manifested in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Philippians 2:5-11; John 1:1; 1:14; 1:18; John 15:26; Genesis 1:2)

  • Man, his fall and redemption

Man is a created being made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26,27). Through Adam’s transgression and fall sin came into the world: “…all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). But through the sacrificial death of Christ, reconciliation with God became possible for everyone. (2 Corinthians 5:18,19)

  • Forgiveness

If any believer sins, he has an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ. Therefore, if he confesses his sin, he will be forgiven, and will be cleansed from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

  • Divine healing

Healing is available for the physical ills of the human body. It is provided for in the atonement of Christ. (1 Peter 2:24)

  • Eternal life and the new birth

Without being born again no man can see the kingdom of God (John 3:5). Jesus Christ, the Son of God, gives eternal life to all who call upon Him. (John 10:28)

  • Water baptism

Baptism in water is by immersion and is a direct commandment of the Lord. Baptism is for believers only, meaning that those who personally believe must request baptism as a step of obedience to the Lord. Baptism is a symbol of the believer’s identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. (Romans 6:4)

  • Baptism in the Holy Spirit

The baptism in the Holy Spirit is a gift of God promised to all believers. The experience is accompanied by the initial evidence of speaking in tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance. (Acts 2:38)

  • Sanctification

The Bible teaches us that without holiness no man can see God. We believe that sanctification is a definite, yet progressive work of grace commencing at the time of the new birth, and continuing until the consummation of salvation. (Philippians 1:6)

  • The resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ

Christ truly rose from the dead and ascended into heaven where He is seated at the right hand of the Father and intercedes for us. (Acts 1:9-11)

  • The return of the Lord and the resurrection of the just

The Lord Jesus will return to the earth, and His coming is imminent. When He comes, the dead in Christ shall rise first, then those who are alive shall be changed and caught up to meet Him in the air to be with Him always. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17)

  • Hell and retribution

The one who physically dies in his sin without Christ is hopelessly lost in hell. Hell is a literal place. (Revelation 19:20).
